Organisations need a BHV-person (emergency response officer) in their building, who can

UM has staff members equipped to do this, but in certain circumstances your organisation needs to train their own BHV-people.

When is a BHV-person necessary?

The amount of BHV-people necessary at an event is estimated for every case. The amount depends on the general risks at the location, the self-reliance of the individuals that will visit the event, as well as the availability and proximity of professional emergency services, and the size, lay-out and complexity of the building the event will take place in. These factors need to be assessed and based on this assessment the amount of BHV-people necessary is established.

How many people can you train to become a BHV with UM support?

Certain associations and initiatives are allowed to sign up with a maximum amount of board members:

<aside> 💡 Not all student organisations will receive financial compensation for their BHV course. You have to meet certain conditions and be able to prove why it is necessary that one of your members follows a BHV course. Get in touch with the SIH to discuss whether you receive financial compensation or not.

Details about the training when receiving financial support from the SSC

The SSC covers 75% of the costs for the training, and asks the student organisation to pay the remaining 25%.

The training is conducted at the Facility Services (Duboisdomein 30, 6229 GT Maastricht) and takes two full (work)days (not consecutively, the two days can be one or two weeks apart).
